This digital sound-processing system recognises speech sounds, automatically reducing the level of some background noises. It also amplifies quiet sounds so they can be better heard while reducing the volume of loud sounds which might get uncomfortable. more possibilities: Most S300 custom models can be equipped with a Directional Microphone System. It allows you to select if you want to pick up sounds from all directions or just from in front of you. Although S300 was designed to automatically respond to ever-changing listening environments your Hearing Care Professional can adapt up to three optional listening programs which you can select by simply touching the button. More freedom: You can freely decide if you want to benefit from the automatic hands-free volume adjustment or the manual control. The optional volume control lets you chose the best volume for the surrounding situation or you let S300 take over the decision - it is up to you. S300 will inform you with soft signal beeps when switching between the optional listening programs and when it is time to change the battery. And furthermore, S300 offers the convenience of an advanced "Power-on Delay" feature, which eliminates unpleasant feedback (whistling) when inserting the hearing instrument.
