National Programme for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disability [Central Scheme]

The aims and objectives of the Scheme are to provide all sorts of facilities to the persons with disabilities and enable them to come in the mainstream of the society provisions.

The main objectives are as below: Establishment of State Disability Rehabilitation Centre at State Level and District Disability Rehabilitation Centre at District Level along with needful infrastructure, man power (Technical/Non Technical), diagnostic equipments and aids and appliances. Man power development at Panchayat Level, Block Level and District Level. Community awareness, early identification pre-school training and intervention by community bases rehabilitation workers at Panchayat level and multipurpose rehabilitation workers at block level. Diagnostic and therapeutic management by rehabilitation professionals at district and state level. Free distribution of adis and appliances like tri-cycle, wheel chair, hearing aids etc. whose income is less than Rs 5,000/- per month as per ADIP Scheme of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. Issuance of disability certificate.Promotion of Barrier-free Environment and Celebration of Worked Day of Disabled every year. Referral services for educational and vocational rehabilitation of PWDs. Implementation of PWD Act, 1995 and 1999 properly. Functioning of State Disability Rehabilitation Centre as an apex body at State level. Training of the parents of handicapped functionaries of different departments at Govt. and Non-Govt. Sector.

State Programme for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (SPRPD)

National Programme for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (NPRPD) was a 100% Centrally Sponsored Scheme funded entirely by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India. From 2005 - 2006, the Scheme has been transferred to State Sector to be funded by State Govt. The NPRPD now be known as "State Programme for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (SPRPD)".
